About this collection

Professor Saleh Lamei is the founder and general director of the Centre for Conservation & Preservation of Islamic Architectural Heritage (CIAH). He was the dean of the school of Architecture - Arab University Beirut 1982-84. He is a Consultant for the Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities for Islamic Urban and Architecture since 2003 and a member of the UNESCO International Committee for the Preservation of the Cultural properties. Professor Lamei graciously donated his work to the Regional Architecture Collections here in the Rare Books and Special Collecitons Library.

This digital collection contains plans drawn by Dr. Lamei of notable examples of Islamic architecture in Cairo, including Al-Azhar, Bab al-Nasr and Bab al-Futuh, Juyushi Mosque, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali as well as several manāzilMore papers and drawings are held in the RAC.
