Vol. 28 No. 1 Monday, September 20, 1993 THE CHANNEL " THROUGH WHICH INFORMATION FLOWS . . '* WELCOME..... Welcome to Fall Semester ’93. We wish all students a happy and productive term. THE CHANNEL brings all important announcements of activities, deadlines, departmental notices, etc. Make it a habit to read The Channel every Monday & Wednesday morning. ********************************************* All executive members should attend the general meeting taking place on Wednesday, September 22, in front of rm.// 105M at 11:00 a.m. to elect the new president. Attendance is a must. Students who would like to change their major to Computer Science are invited to apply right now in the C.S.Dept. rm.// 403 Falaki Bldg. Their applications must include concentration courses they have taken and overall GPA. Deadline to receive their applications is Thurs.Sept.23,1993. All interested are most welcome. *For our first session, we will meet in rm.//SS 124 Wed.Sept.22 from 4 - 6:25 p.m. in order to arrange a mutually convenient time for all those who have registered. Please be prepared to decide on a final scheduled time as we cannot keep shifting or changing our minds. *AnSo 210-03 will be offered by Dr.Rouchdy AnSo 210-09-10 will be offered by Ms.Bassem AnSo 210-06 is cancelled. Students enrolled in this section are to check with the department. AnSo 321 is cancelled. Soc. 201 -03 is cancelled. The ID section has been moved from its location on the main floor of the Library. It is now at ground level, immediately inside the campus gate. Entrance is from the door opposite the AUC Duplicating Center. The telephone extensions are 6361 or 6360. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SERVICES: All AUC students interested in joining the FRIENDS OF ******************************* INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS are requested to pick-up an application form from ISSO rm.#504 Hill House. More information about the program is available at the office. T.M.A.F. **TMAF Dept, moved to the SS bldg. 3rd floor. DEPT.: THTR 224-03 was rescheduled to Wed.from 03:00-05:45 will be given at Wallace ******** Theatre. THTR 314-01 (Modern & Contemporary Architecture) is a new course introduced by the Dept. All interested students are welcome to register for pre-req:Art 212 or consent of instructor. **AUDITIONS: The AUC Theatre Co. is holding auditions for its upcoming fall production: Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN directed by Walter Eysselinck. Auditions start Mon.Sept.27 and will last until Thurs.Sept.30. Sign up sheets are available in front of the Wallace theatre. Please read the script before hand and prepare a scene of your choice. Scripts are available at the department's office for a refundable deposit of L.E.10. **FILM SERIES: This fall, the TMAF Dept, will be presenting two film series: Classic Film series on Sundays and Luis Bunuel Film series on Tuesdays. First film showings will start Sun.Sept.26 & Tues.Sept.28. Schedules are available at the department's office. MECH.ENG. CLUB: ********* C.S.DEPT.: ********** ANTH.SOC. PSY.DEPT.: ********** FROM THE LIBRARY: ******** FROM THE OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS: New students who were not able to come to Orientation *********************************** that took place Sat.Sept.18,1993 are kindly requested to come to the office and pick up their information file. The Office of Student Affairs is located on the 2nd floor of the Hill House building. KEEP OUR CAMPUS CLEAN......please help keep our Campus clean. Chairs on the Main Campus sports court walkway are to be kept behind the yellow lines at all times to keep the passage way unblocked. CULTURAL Any AUC student (new or old, male or female,beginner or experienced) can ACTIVITIES: participate In one or more of the following activities by attending the *********** first meeting as stated below: CHORAL(group singing) Sept.28 from 2-4 p.m. in Oriental Hall. FOLKLORE group: Wed.Sept. 22 from 4-5 p.m. at the OSA rm .It 206.
